Seeing the wonder of the season through a child’s eyes usually brings back memories of our childhoods. Everything from opening presents on Christmas morning to driving around to see holiday lights evokes a sense of excitement. However, one thing—or should we say person—thrills kids, and that’s Santa! Whether you simply want to snap a photo or your child wants to tell the Jolly Elf their Christmas list, here’s where to see Santa in Hartford, Connecticut, this year.
Children may want to head to Glow Hartford to see Santa Claus, but they’ll definitely be distracted by all the other amazing things to do. Go through interactive light displays and participate in an exciting scavenger hunt. There is also live entertainment and an artisan market. Plus, food and drinks are on-site if you get hungry. Of course, kids will enjoy seeing Santa, too, so make plans to spend a day at Glow Hartford.
Not only is Westfarms the ideal place to get festive, but the kids can interact with Santa too! This popular Saint Nick sighting sells out fast, so don’t forget to make your reservations online. Although, you can still walk up if the big guy has availability. There are many different photo packages available so that you can document your memories. One plus is that there are various Santas, so you can go when your favorite is on site.
Coming from a successful first run last season, Winterfair returns for its second year this 2022. This holiday market encourages you to shop small and local, and is perfect for both you and the kids as the big jolly fellow will be there too. Head to the Great Hall at the Union Station to find the perfect gifts for your family and friends, and mark down the dates when Santa will be there: November 25th from 5 to 8 pm and November 26th from 1 to 4 pm.
Brunch With Santa
Why spend a few minutes with Saint Nicholas when you and your child can eat an entire meal with him? The Pond House Cafe’s Brunch With Santa event is the ideal way to visit him this Christmas. Please note that you must make a reservation ahead of time. This event is also popular, so get your tickets as soon as possible. Adults can join in the fun, and a children’s ticket includes their meal, drink, a visit with Santa, and a gingerbread house kit to take home. What an excellent way to extend your stay with the big, jolly guy!
If the kids want to meet Santa and enjoy some outdoor ice skating too, then Winterfest Hartford is a local tradition you should not miss! Bundle up and skate your hearts out at this free holiday event. There are free rentals on site at Bushnell Park, and in December and January, free skating lessons are available every Saturday. Stay for some live entertainment by talented local artists too. And of course—don’t forget to take snaps with St. Nick while you’re there! (Santa will be at the event for 4 days; make sure to plan accordingly.)
