Winterfair

Winterfair is a yearly tradition for downtown Hartford, and once you visit, you’ll understand why. Featuring over 110 local businesses, it’s a great place to find one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone you love (including yourself!). And don’t worry— with a special appearance from Santa himself, the kids won’t be complaining if you bring them along this shopping trip!

The Nutcracker: Short and Suite

By now, you’ve probably seen The Nutcracker in some way, shape, or form, whether it be on stage, screen, or the pages of a book. For yearly Nutcracker attendees, this special lecture is a great change of pace while keeping with tradition. The event features a lecture about the history of The Nutcracker, giving attendees a whole new perspective on the classic Christmas ballet. Don’t forget to bring some canned goods for their donation drive!

A Christmas Carol at the Wadsworth Mansion

Don’t be a Scrooge; experience the classic tale A Christmas Carol in an all-new way! Set in the historical Wadsworth Mansion, attendees will physically follow the characters during the haunting of Scrooge, Fezziwig’s party, and all the other famous scenes from the old novel. It will feel like you hopped right into the pages of a Dickens novel— plus free hot cocoa!

Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees & Traditions has been a Wadsworth Atheneum staple since 1973, raising funds for the museum in a festive way. Artists, local organizations, and community members of all kinds decorate trees in their own unique styles; walk around and marvel at the beautiful trees and wreaths, or even buy one to take home! All proceeds help with Wadsworth continue their operations.
